I asked Mic, my mentor and friend for six years, to contribute to my MANglish Mania and he graciously agreed. I told Mic that it's confusing to women when men say, "I don't want to hurt you." Mic said it confuses women because it could mean more than one thing depending on how the man feels about the woman. The man is either saying, "Be prepared for disappointment and if you get hurt it's not my fault." Or the man could be saying, "I really do care about you and don't want to risk hurting you."
